Daniella Irle promoted to UND’s Deputy Director of Athletics

GRAND FORKS, N.D.University of North Dakota Athletics Director Brian Faison announced today the elevation of Daniella Irle from Senior Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations to Deputy Director of Athletics. She will continue to also serve as Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) for UND Athletics.

“Daniella's tremendous organizational skills, her leadership, and her incredible work ethic have been instrumental in aiding the successful transition process to full Division I membership, in advancing the enhancement of our student-athlete support services, and in working with our various conference partners,” said Faison. “This promotion recognizes those efforts, her expanding responsibilities and the important role she will continue to play for the department.”

Irle (pronounced ‘earl’) has served as senior associate athletics director for internal operations and senior woman administrator since June 2010. She previously served at UND as associate athletics director for internal operations and senior woman administrator since August 2008.

Her day-to-day duties include departmental oversight of the compliance office, athletics academic services, strength and conditioning, sports medicine, Title IX policy and compliance, the summer school athletics aid and degree completion aid programs, and direct supervision of various sports assigned by the athletics director.

Irle also serves as the department’s senior staff liaison with various campus entities such as Human Resources, the Office of Admissions, the Housing Office, the Dean of Student's office, the Student Success Center, the Office of the Registrar, the Student Financial Aid Office, University Police, the Emergency Management Office, and the University Counseling Center. She is also UND’s primary liaison for sport and scheduling regulations with the Big Sky Conference, Western Athletics Conference (WAC) and the America Sky Golf Conference.

Irle came to UND from Tulane University, where she was the assistant athletics director for business and student services operations.

Prior to that appointment, Irle spent three seasons as the head coach of the Tulane women's swimming and diving team, restarting the program after a 13-year hiatus. She was named Conference USA Coach of the Year in 2004-05 and 2005-06.

Irle also spent 10 years as the Fresno State swimming and diving coach. She was the WAC Coach of the Year in 1993 and 1995.

Other stops for Irle have included the University of Texas and LSU.
