Four UMC Student-Athletes Named to NSIC Winter All-Academic Team


CROOKSTON, Minn. The University of Minnesota, Crookston had four student-athletes named to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Winter All-Academic team as announced Thursday afternoon by the conference office. The UMC women’s basketball team had two student-athletes honored as Kenzie Church (So., F, Fairmount, N.D.) and Ashley Martell (So., G, Somerset, Wis.) received the honor. Men’s basketball seniors Broderick Schmidt (F, Marion, S.D.) and Almir Krdzalic (G, Sioux Falls, S.D.) also received the distinguished award.

To be eligible for this honor, the student-athlete must be a member of the varsity traveling team and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher. Furthermore, the athlete must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at her/his institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution.
