MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The WNBA tonight announced that
Lynx forward Maya Moore has been named to the All-WNBA Second Team. For Moore,
she earns her second career All-WNBA Second Team honor (2012).
The six-foot forward out of Connecticut has now been
named to either the All-WNBA First or Second team in seven straight seasons.
Moore finished 2018 starting all 34 games in her eighth WNBA season. She's now
played in 271 of 272 games since arriving in Minnesota in 2011, with the Lynx
winning 200 of those. Moore averaged 18.0 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 2.6 apg and 1.68 spg in
31.8 mpg, shooting 42.3% from the floor, 36.5% (66-for-181) from long range and
83.3% from the line. She led the WNBA in steals while ranking seventh in made
three pointers, ninth in scoring and 11th in minutes. Over her final eight
games of the season, Moore connected on 51.2% (22-for-43) of her trey attempts.
Moore tallied 30+ points on four occasions (including
three times in her final six road starts), boosting her club-record career
total to 24. Over the course of the 2018 season, she earned Western Conference
Player of the Week accolades three times (June 25, July 2, Aug. 13), becoming
the fifth player in WNBA history to garner 20 career weekly honors. Moore was
named MVP of the 2018 All-Star Game on July 28 at Target Center after
contributing 18 points, eight rebounds and six assists, becoming the first
player in league history to win the award in three straight All-Star Games.
