CROOKSTON,
Minn. – University of Minnesota Crookston women’s basketball player Katrina
Nordick (Sr., F, Perham, Minn./Applied Studies) was awarded her third Northern
Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Player of the Week honor of the 2015-16
season. Nordick earned it after having a strong showing over Senior weekend at
Lysaker Gymnasium.
Nordick
averaged 18.5 points, 8.05 rebounds and 5.5 assists as the UMC women’s
basketball team picked up a sweep on the weekend with wins over University of
Mary and Minot State University. Nordick had 12 points, five rebounds and eight
assists against Minot State on Friday as UMC picked up a 78-62 win over the
Beavers. Saturday, Nordick had one of her best games of her career with 25
points, 11 rebounds and three assists in a victory over the Marauders. Nordick
helped the Golden Eagles to a program-best 17thwin on Saturday
against U-Mary. She shot 14-of-25 for 56 percent from the field and 8-of-9 for
88.9 percent from the charity stripe. The senior, who has also been a standout
in the classroom and was recently named CoSIDA Academic All-District, is just
five rebounds from setting the school’s rebounding record and surpassing former
teammate Laurie Tyson.
Nordick
and Winona State University’s Connor Nagle were named the NSIC Players of the
Week. Nordick and the Golden Eagles have a big weekend ahead as they take on
Northern State University and Minnesota State University Moorhead in a battle
for seeding in the NSIC North. The Golden Eagles will for sure host their
second-ever playoff game Feb. 24th, but the opponent has yet to be
determined.
