BURNSVILLE,
Minn. – University of Minnesota Crookston women’s basketball player
Katrina Moenkedick (Jr., F, Perham, Minn./Applied Studies) was named
Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) North Division Player of
the Week as announced by the conference office Monday. Moenkedick is the
first UMC women’s basketball player to earn the weekly award during the
2015-16 season.
Moenkedick tallied 21 points and 12 rebounds
in a 66-53 win over Bemidji State to open up the conference slate for
the Golden Eagles. Moenkedick had a double-double at half-time with 12
points and 10 rebounds. She hit 7-of-14 from the field and was 7-of-11
from the charity stripe. Moenkedick also had five offensive rebounds in
the game as the Golden Eagles improved to 2-3 on the season and 1-0 in
the NSIC.
This is the second time Moenkedick has received a
Player of the Week award from the NSIC. She earned the honor Jan. 6,
2014 after putting up 30 points and 11 rebounds against Upper Iowa and
12 points and nine rebounds against Winona State last season.
Wayne
State College’s Jordan Spencer was named NSIC South Division Player of
the Week after averaging 17.3 points and 9.7 rebounds in three Wildcat
wins last week.
