NDSU Signs Detroit Lakes Golfers Natalie Roth, Trisa Hutchinson
FARGO,
N.D. – Defending state champion Natalie Roth and teammate Trisa Hutchinson of Detroit Lakes (Minn.)
High School have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their education
and play women's golf at North Dakota State University. NDSU head coach Matt Johnson made the announcement Wednesday, Nov.
13, the first day of the one-week early signing period.
Roth shot even-par and was co-medalist to lead
the Lakers to their second straight Class 2A state championship last
spring. She is a four-year letterwinner who averaged 76.3 strokes last
season and is a two-time all-conference and all-state performer. Roth
participated in the 2013 Minnesota/Wisconsin Ryder Cup and was a top-25
finisher in the 2013 Minnesota state amateur championship.
Hutchinson is a five-year letterwinner for the Lakers who had a
76.5 stroke average her junior year and placed seventh at the Minnesota Class
2A state tournament. She is a four-time all-conference performer and was
all-state in 2012 and 2013. She also played basketball and was MVP of the
volleyball team in 2012.
Both players have their senior seasons left to
play next spring. The Lakers have won four straight conference
championships, four straight Section 8 championships, and had third- and
second-place finishes at the Class 2A state meet before their back-to-back
titles in 2012 and 2013.
North Dakota State won its first Summit League championship and advanced
to the NCAA Division I regional last season. The Bison are second in the
league in scoring at 310.8 through the first six tournaments of the 2013-14
season, which is on pace to break the school record of 312.61 set last season.
