MOORHEAD, Minn.--Minnesota State University Moorhead
Athletics will host the #DragonsMarchOn Party at 9 p.m. on Sunday to honor
Dragon student athletes who have received all-conference honors or qualified
for national competition in the recent weeks. The party is open to the public
and will be in Nemzek Fieldhouse.
In addition, the postseason fate of the No. 5 Minnesota State University
Moorhead men's basketball team (32-3) will be determined during the
#DragonsMarchOn Party. The 2014-15 NCAA Division II men's basketball tournament
selection show will begin at 9:30 p.m. Sunday night and will be shown on the
Nemzek Fieldhouse video board.
The two-time defending Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference North Division
Champion Dragons will enter the NCAA Tournament for the second time under the
direction of head coach
Chad Walthall. In 2012, MSUM defeated
Southwest Minnesota State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament before
falling to Colorado School of Mines one night later.
MSUM, who has already set school single season records for wins (32) and
conference wins (20), have not been ranked lower than No. 2 in the NCAA
Division II men's basketball regional rankings. The Dragons were ranked No. 5
in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II Top-25
poll, released on Tuesday.
Free "March On" T-shirts will be distributed
to individuals who attend the viewing party, limited quantity available.
Dragons fans are encouraged to use the hashtag #DragonsMarchOn to support
Dragon student athletes as they compete at the national level in the upcoming
weeks.
Events leading up to the selection show will include promotional prizes and
recognition of track and field, wrestling, swimming and diving, men's
basketball, and women's basketball student athletes who have recently won
awards or qualified for national competition in their respective sports.
