UND student-athletes seeking donations for Hurricane Harvey relief

GRAND FORKS, N.D. –The University of North Dakota’s student-athletes are teaming up with the American Red Cross to help provide relief for people affected by Hurricane Harvey.

The UND basketball and hockey teams are donating team apparel (including shoes) to hurricane victims. Additionally, UND’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) encourages Fighting Hawks fans to donate financial contributions by visiting the following link: https://www.redcross.org/donate/cm/undathletics-emp.

UND SAAC President Lyndsay Hathaway, a junior outfielder on the softball team, said her fellow student-athletes have many ties to the Houston area and encouraged SAAC to take a lead role in organizing aid efforts.

“We as an athletics department decided to collaborate with the American Red Cross to help aid those affected by Hurricane Harvey,” said Hathaway. “This is a great opportunity for our UND family and athletics department to help those affected by disaster, similar to what happened to our Grand Forks community following the flood of 1997.”

NDSU National Championship Fan Collection Now On Sale

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State University and Jostens have partnered to let fans claim their piece of history with a product line commemorating NDSU’s third straight NCAA Division I football championship.
 
The NDSU championship collection includes customizable fan rings and a replica of the 2013 championship ring that will be presented to the Bison football team at 1:15 p.m. prior to the April 26 spring game.
 
“In addition to creating the national championship ring, Jostens also collaborated with the team to create a custom selection of personalized jewelry and keepsake items all inspired by the team ring. The collection offers every Bison fan the chance to own a piece of history,” said Chris Poitras, Vice President, College & College Sports, Jostens.
 
Designed with input from NDSU’s six captains, the 2013 team ring features images of three NCAA trophies and the Bison logo on the top, recognizes the Missouri Valley Football Conference championship on one side, and “Back to Back to Back” national titles under an image of the Fargodome on the other side.  The inside of the ring band lists all 11 national championship seasons.
 
“Jostens designers worked closely with the team to create a one-of-a-kind championship ring that captures this special moment for players and coaching staff that forever will tell the story of their incredible season,” Poitras said.
 
The NDSU championship collection is available online and will be on sale in the Fargodome lobby April 26 at the annual Green and Gold spring game.  Doors open at 11:30 a.m. with kickoff set for 1:30 p.m.
