FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State University will induct seven individuals into the Bison Athletic Hall of Fame and a team into the Hall of Champions on Friday, Sept. 30. The 45th annual induction ceremony will bring the number of individuals enshrined in the Hall of Fame to 276, and the number of teams to 11 in the Hall of Champions.
The newest Hall of Famers are volleyball All-American middle hitter Angie (Converse) Grove (1990-93); NFL and All-American running back Lamar Gordon (1997-01); assistant women's basketball coach (1986-2008) and current associate director of athletic academics Kelli Layman; All-American football linebacker Jared Maher (1997-01); NDSU radio play-by-play and Bison Athletic Hall of Fame script reader Scott Miller (1996-2016); softball All-American catcher/outfielder Shelly (Rhein) Rowedder (1998-01), and wrestling national champion Ryan Wolters (1994-98).
Members of the 1972 NCAA College Division National Championship Men's Cross Country Team will enter the Bison Athletic Hall of Champions led by two-time national champion Mike Slack (1971, 1972) Slack's teammates were Mark Buzby, Warren Eide, Dave Kampa, Steve Moe, Roger Schwegal and Wayne Smedsrud. Head coach Roger Grooters (deceased) and Slack are members of the Bison Athletic Hall of Fame.
The induction will take place at the Holiday Inn in Fargo. Lunch will begin at 11 a.m. with the induction ceremony to start at 11:30 a.m.
