FALLS, S.D. – Two North Dakota State University women's basketball
student-athletes received All-Summit League honors, the league announced
on Thursday, March 3, at the annual Summit League tournament tip-off
press conference inside the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux
Falls.
Senior guard Marena Whittle was named to the All-Summit League First Team, while sophomore guard Taylor Thunstedt was tabbed honorable mention all-league.
Whittle, a native of Vermont South, Victoria, Australia, led the Bison and The Summit League in rebounding during the regular season with 10.3 boards per game and was second on the team and third in the league in scoring with 16.8 points per game. Whittle also paced NDSU with 13 double-doubles this season. She matched her career-high of 33 points in the Bison's win over IPFW on Jan. 9, and dished out a career-best nine assists in NDSU's victory over Omaha Feb. 14. Whittle ranks fifth in career rebounding average at North Dakota State with 7.9 rebounds per game and sixth in total career boards with 921.
Thunstedt, a native of Spicer, Minn., led NDSU and was second in The Summit League with 17 points per game. She also paced the Bison and ranked third in the league in three-point field-goal percentage, going 39.2 percent from beyond the arc. Thunstedt netted a career-best 31 points against South Dakota Jan. 14 and scored 30 points at Western Illinois Feb. 25. She ranks second in career three-point field-goal percentage at North Dakota State, making 137 treys in 348 attempts for 39.4 percent.
