(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston and the Golden Eagle Athletic Department announced today that Jeff Cheek has been hired as the new offensive coordinator with the Golden Eagle Football program.
Cheek comes to the University of Minnesota, Crookston from Fresno State University where he was the offensive quality control assistant. At Fresno State, he assisted in game planning for third downs, assisted in weekly offensive scouting reports, broke down opponent game film and charted plays and defensive coverages on game days. Prior to Fresno State, Cheek was an offensive graduate assistant at his alma mater Boise State University. Cheek gained coaching experience at Golden West College as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach, Humboldt State University, and Eastern Oregon University. He began his coaching career at Nampa Senior High School as the offensive line coach.
“Coach Cheek is a tremendous addition to the Golden Eagle Football program,” says Head Coach Paul Miller. “His playing and coaching experience will be an asset to both the coaching staff and our student-athletes,” Miller adds.
Cheek played left guard for Boise State University. He started in 13 games for the Broncos and was a member of two Big West Championship teams and two Humanitarian Bowl Championship teams. Prior to Boise State, he was a First Team All-Coast Conference player at De Anza College. In the classroom he earned a BS in social science and a MA in education pedagogy from Boise State University.
